Short-term wish: I wish that you could purchase a FastPass without having to go to a bus station. I know some cities have reloadable cards that you can load money onto at atm type stations or using an app.
Long-term wish: Better marketing by the city to try and promote transit and lessen the stigma of bus riding. I think if people realized how easy and unintimidating it is, more people would at least be willing to try.
Agreed. For my commute, I'd like the routes to go all the way into downtown, closer to our jobs and destinations, which would also let the routes cross downtown for those who need to tranfer. Right now my routes turn up Third to go to the transit center. I have to get off and walk, or ride way out of my way.
My father worked for frieght rail and I have found myself riding a lot of passenger rail both for pleasure and as a communter in my life time. Rail is happening in the south and in the middle of the country, which is often over looked.
Thought I would share some news on passenger rail from the region:
The Southern Rail Commission will promote the safe, reliable and efficient movement of people and goods to enhance economic development along rail corridors; provide transportation choices; and facilitate emergency evacuation routes.... The Southern Rail Commission’s vision is to create a strong, multi-modal transportation network connecting the entire Gulf South with passenger rail service. Since Hurricane Katrina, all modes of transportation crossing the Gulf Coast have been reestablished except for passenger rail.
